Dr Niel du Plooy is a friendly and passionate Specialist Physician, who was born and bred in Hartbeespoort. After matric, he went on to work as a Pharmacist Assistant at Virtual Care Pharmacy, Pretoria. In 2009 he then worked at Lancet Laboratories in Pretoria, as Phlebotomist.
In 2011, Dr Niel du Plooy graduated and obtained his Medical Degree (MBChB) with cum laude, from the University of Pretoria. He then did his Internship in 2011 at Dr George Mukhari Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa, Pretoria. Dr du Plooy completed his Community Service as a Medical Officer at Lotus River Day Hospital, Gustrouw Day Hospital and Helderberg Hospital in Western Cape.
In 2015, Dr Niel du Plooy worked at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. He completed his specialist training there. He obtained his Fellowship of the College of Physicians (Colleges of Medicine of South Africa) in 2019, and Master of Medicine (MMed), cum laude at the University of Cape Town.
With a keen interest in diabetes, hypertension and obesity-related illnesses, he opened his private practice at Life St George Hospital in Port Elizabeth, where he treated these conditions. He later moved to Cape Town where he now practises at Mediclinic Cape Town. He is intrigued by data science and machine learning and how they are utilized in clinical medicine.
